Set yourself free

This paragraph speaks to me a lot. Its all emo-ish but it speaks about life and loneliness and setting yourself free and being yourself and not letting anybody own you. Hehehe.

“She felt as though her soul was being eaten up by the people and things in her life. Her body was not her own, her heart was not her own, her life was not her own. She did not possess herself and it ate her up inside. She missed the simplicity of making her own choices and being her own person. She felt so swayed by others’ opinions that nothing seemed to be her own anymore. She was a shadow of herself, and she felt that she barely existed. Her existence was consumed by the people involved with her and she hated centering her life around them. She hated that every day she took into consideration everyone’s feelings except for her own. She hated always trying her hardest to please everyone else, when no one was really trying to please her. All she had were the things she did for other people. Sometimes being selfless is the worst thing you can do for yourself, because somehow you become so focused on the wellbeing of others that you forget to care for yourself; you forget to make yourself happy sometimes, too. And it was in the instant that she realized this that she decided not to do it anymore. She decided to stop doing what she did just to please others, and to start doing things that would make her happy. Regardless of what other people thought about her. She would get that tattoo she had been thinking about for so long, she would move into that apartment she had been yearning for. She would stop going to the school she hated and start doing the things that made her life worthwhile. Because once you give yourself away to everyone else, your life isn’t really yours anymore.”
